Detroit Tigers - Roaring Champions of Professional Baseball
The Detroit Tigers are one of the eight charter franchises of the American League. Based in Detroit, Michigan, the team is one of the four members of the league located in their original cities. Also, the Detroit Tigers are the only team that belonged to the Western League and retained its original name throughout the history. A Little Background
Founded in 1894 in its original city of Detroit, the team was preceded by the Detroit Wolverines. The Wolverines remained a member of the National League from 1881 to 1888. The team collapsed and a new team representing the city was founded as the member of the Western League in 1894. The first game of the team as a major league team was in 1901 against the Milwaukee Brewers. For the rest of the years, the team experienced both, the good times and the bad times.
World Series Titles
It was in the year 1935 that the Detroit Tigers recorded their first World Series title against the Cubs. The year 1945 witnessed the second World Series for the team; as they went on to defeat the Chicago Cubs. After remaining less in the news, the Tigers reappeared as the World Series winners in 1968 by defeating the St. Louis Cardinals. The fourth and the final World Series victory came for the Tigers in 1984 against the San Diego Padres. Also, there are 10 American League pennants and three East Division titles to the credit of the Tigers.

Some of the Detroit Tigers that made headlines with professional baseball performances include Sparky Anderson, Ed Barrow, Jim Bunning, Bucky Harris, Whitey Herzog, Hugie Jennings, Sam Thompson, Gorge Kell and Eddie Mathews.

The mascot for the Detroit Tigers team is the tiger named Paws. The colors of the uniform for the Tigers include navy blue, white, orange and gray. One of the popular nicknames for the team is 'the Bengals'. Boulevard Park was the original ballpark for the team till 1895. The Burns Park, the Bennett Park and the Tiger Stadium took turns as home grounds for the team till 1999. Since 2000, the team plays at the Comerica Park.

i think rodney sucks and should of been pulled in the opening game of the year.The tigers could of had a better chance of winning it if Todd Jones was still pitching. |

| Summary |
We are the local team of Detroit. Few days back We went to watch one of the Detroit Tigers match in American League, in which we learnt many tips from them, like how to co-operate with team members, how to maintain the winning tempo till the end. the perfomance of the team in that match gave us lot of encouragement and support to buildup ourselves as good players.
